Saudi Arabia to host regional conference on “Airport Security Privatization and Single Security Checkpoint: Opportunities and Challenges”

The Civil Aviation Authority in Riyadh hosted a regional seminar on “Privatization of Airport Security Services and the One Security Checkpoint Concept: Opportunities and Challenges.” The event was organized jointly by the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, the European Civil Aviation Conference, and the African Civil Aviation Commission from February 24-26, 2025. More than 120 experts and specialists in aviation security from 55 Arab, African, and European countries, as well as aircraft manufacturers and regional organizations, participated in the seminar.

The seminar aimed to provide a platform for dialogue and knowledge sharing among Arab, African, and European countries in the field of privatizing airport security services, implementing the concept of the “one security checkpoint,” improving operational efficiency, reducing costs, while maintaining the highest safety and security standards.

Several discussion sessions, led by international aviation security experts, focused on the opportunities and challenges of privatizing aviation security functions and implementing the one security checkpoint concept.

The first day of the seminar highlighted current, emerging, and future threats facing civil aviation security, privatization of aviation security – the main aspects and factors influencing privatization – as well as reviewing security challenges post-privatization, the opportunities of implementing the one security checkpoint concept, recognizing the equivalence of security measures, building and developing capabilities, and enhancing international and regional cooperation in civil aviation security.
