King Salman Center for Relief signs agreements to support orphans and contain oil spills in Tajikistan and Yemen

During the Fourth Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum in Riyadh, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center signed a cooperation agreement with the Red Crescent Society in Tajikistan to implement the third phase of the orphan care project in the country. The agreement aims to provide $100 monthly to each orphan, offering psychological support to them and their families, and ensuring their economic and social security.

This assistance will benefit 1,000 orphans and 900 families in various cities in Tajikistan. This initiative is part of the Kingdom’s humanitarian efforts to support orphans globally, providing them with psychological and social support.

Furthermore, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center also signed a cooperation agreement with the United Nations Development Program to meet the needs of the Yemeni Ministry of Water and Environment for equipment and devices to contain fuel and fertilizer leaks caused by the sinking of the Rubeimar ship in the Red Sea, benefiting 126,020 individuals.

The agreement was signed by the Center’s Assistant General Supervisor for Operations and Programs, Eng. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baez, and the Deputy Director and Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations Development Program, Haoliang Xu.

Under this agreement, national capacity will be developed to deploy a stockpile of equipment for responding to oil spill incidents, disposal of hazardous materials, as well as the purchase of specialized equipment for responding to oil leaks to protect environmentally sensitive areas. It also includes the purchase of a remotely operated underwater vehicle capable of diving to a depth of 200m and providing international and local experienced advisors for continuous technical support within Yemen for one year. Additionally, organized inspection operations of the Rubeimar ship’s structure will be enabled.

These efforts by Saudi Arabia, through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, are aimed at addressing urgent environmental threats in Yemen, continuing the Kingdom’s commitment to humanitarian assistance and support worldwide.
