The Ministry of Tourism reported that Mecca, the holy capital, has the highest number of licensed rooms in 2024 among all regions and cities in the Kingdom. Over 268,000 licensed rooms were recorded in Mecca in 2024, showing a 64% increase compared to 2023. The Ministry is dedicated to protecting the rights of visitors benefiting from hospitality services in Mecca. Continuous efforts are made to enhance the services provided to them. The Ministry’s monitoring teams conduct regular inspections throughout the year to ensure that all facilities have the necessary operational licenses, detect any violations, and enforce penalties as per the tourism regulations and hospitality rules.
The continuous growth in the number of hospitality facility licenses in Mecca is attributed to the Ministry’s efforts under the “Guests First” campaign. The campaign aims to ensure the quality of services provided by operators of facilities and tourist activities to visitors and to ensure the compliance of tourist activities with the tourism system and its regulations.
