Head of FDA Leads Agency Delegation at Tokyo International Forum for Medical Device Organizers

Dr. Hisham Al-Jedaie, the CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, led a delegation to the 27th annual International Medical Device Regulators Forum (IMDRF) meeting in Tokyo, Japan from March 10th to 14th. The delegation included representatives from regulatory bodies overseeing medical devices worldwide.
During the forum, the Saudi delegation highlighted the Kingdom’s leading role in developing capabilities and advanced regulation of medical devices, in line with best international practices. This is aimed at supporting the localization of industry and innovation in this sector.
Key topics discussed at the forum included the foundational principles of the forum’s 2026-2030 strategy, capacity building programs among member countries, relevant challenges and solutions, and the review of the latest guidance issued by the forum.
The participation of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority in the forum aims to strengthen its leadership role in regulating medical devices. It also seeks to benefit from global experiences and expertise in developing regulatory frameworks, as well as building strategic partnerships with regulatory counterparts and relevant international organizations.
