Minister of Transport Visits High-Speed Haramain Railway Station in Medina

The Minister of Transport and Logistic Services, Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, inspected the readiness of the Haramain High-Speed Railway to serve pilgrims and visitors during the holy month of Ramadan. He was accompanied by Bashar Al-Malik, the CEO of Saudi Railways.

Al-Jasser reviewed the train operations and services provided to pilgrims and visitors during Ramadan, a time when travel is significantly increased. He listened to feedback from passengers, inspected operational performance at the Medina station, and assessed the overall operational processes. He also learned about the development programs and modern services offered by the Haramain High-Speed Railway to cater to pilgrims, visitors, and travelers.

During his field visit, Al-Jasser directed efforts to intensify and improve services for passengers, pilgrims, and visitors to achieve the ambitious goals of the National Transport and Logistic Services Strategy. “SAR” increased the operational capacity of the Haramain High-Speed Railway during Ramadan by raising the number of trips to 3,410, a 21% increase compared to the previous year. Approximately 1.6 million seats were made available, an 18% increase from the previous year, enhancing the railway’s ability to accommodate the high demand during the holy month.

It is worth noting that the visit of the Minister of Transport and Logistics falls within the ministry’s supervisory role over all sectors of the transport and logistic services system. This is aimed at monitoring the implementation of programs, initiatives, and projects that facilitate transportation options, improve transportation methods in cities and provinces of the kingdom, and adopt modern technologies to enhance quality of life and productivity, all towards achieving the targets of the National Transport and Logistic Services Strategy to position the kingdom as a global logistics hub.
