King Salman’s Humanitarian Initiative Launches New Phase of Volunteer Program for Heart Surgery and Cardiac Catheterization in Aden

The King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works in Yemen, in collaboration with the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction, launched a new phase of the voluntary medical program at the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital in Aden. This phase focuses on heart surgery and cardiac catheterization. The program involves a team of medical professionals from Saudi Arabia specializing in various medical fields such as pediatric heart surgery, ear, nose and throat surgery, open-heart surgery, neurosurgery, cosmetic surgery, burns and deformities, urology, and physical therapy. The aim is to reduce the humanitarian needs in Yemen.
The medical program was initiated in April of last year and aims to provide a wide range of medical services to residents across Yemen. The program is being implemented at the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital, which has the capacity to offer over 2.4 million medical services in a 20,000 square meter area with 270 beds, 14 specialized clinics, and a heart center equipped with the latest medical devices and equipment. The hospital’s readiness and capabilities following its operation by the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction led to the implementation of this comprehensive medical program.
The Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction has been actively supporting the health sector in Yemen through various projects and initiatives. These initiatives include the construction, equipping, rehabilitation, and operation of hospitals and medical centers, as well as capacity building for medical professionals. The program has implemented 264 development projects and initiatives in eight key sectors, namely education, energy, transportation, water, agriculture and fisheries, developmental programs, and support for government capacity building.
