Make Giving Count: “Zakati” Introduces Convenient and Secure Payment Options for Individual Zakat Contributions

The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority announced that individuals can now easily calculate and pay their Zakat through the “Zakati” mobile application or the dedicated website zakaty.gov.sa. This can be done using secure and reliable digital payment channels, ensuring a fast and flexible service delivery. The agency’s spokesperson, Hamoud Al-Harb, explained that the introduction of the “Zakati” service for individuals aligns with the Authority’s commitment to providing comprehensive Zakat services. This initiative allows individuals to fulfill their Zakat obligations smoothly and directly benefit those in need. All Zakat funds received through the service are distributed to Zakat beneficiaries registered with the Social Security Agency and the Ministry of Human Resources and social development.

The “Zakati” service offers individuals the option to select the eligible categories of Zakat beneficiaries, including families in dire need of housing, divorced women, prisoners’ families, among others. Users can calculate the Zakat due on various types of assets, such as cash, gold, silver, Saudi and foreign stocks, investment funds, real estate, and trade goods. The service also allows for the calculation of gold Zakat based on its purity, linked in real-time to global gold and silver prices. Furthermore, users can access daily stock and investment fund prices based on market closing rates.

Al-Harb noted a significant increase in user engagement with the “Zakati” service over the years, with Zakat beneficiaries in all categories benefiting from over 760 million Saudi Riyals since the service’s launch eight years ago.
