Record-breaking day for “Haramain Express” as it transports 48,000 passengers on the 15th of Ramadan, the highest number since its launch in 2018

The Saudi Railway Company “SAR” has revealed that the Haramain High-Speed Train has set a record for the highest number of passengers transported in one day since its launch in 2018. On the 15th of Ramadan, the train carried around 48,000 passengers, surpassing the daily average of passengers since the beginning of the holy month, which was 39,000 passengers. This reflects the high demand for the train as the fastest means of reaching Mecca.

The Haramain High-Speed Train continues to operate at full capacity, gradually increasing the number of trips since the beginning of Ramadan to reach 130 trips daily during the last ten days. To meet this high demand, SAR has adjusted the train schedules to coincide with peak times for pilgrims, worshipers, and visitors. They have also modified passenger routes within the stations, provided additional lounges at the Medina station to facilitate flow, and improve the travel experience.

The Haramain High-Speed Train is one of the prominent transportation projects serving the guests of the Holy Mosques throughout the year, connecting Mecca and Medina through Jeddah, King Abdulaziz International Airport, and King Abdullah Economic City. It operates on a 453-kilometer electrified line and is classified among the top 10 fastest trains in the world, with an operational speed of up to 300 km/h.

It is worth mentioning that SAR announced its operational plan for Ramadan before the season began, which included providing 1.6 million seats through more than 3,400 trips on the Haramain High-Speed Train.
