Processing of 755 Customs Duty Exemption Requests Completed in January 2025
In its efforts to promote local industry and enhance its global competitiveness, the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources in Saudi Arabia has granted national industrial facilities exemptions from customs duties on their imports of industrial inputs. In January, the ministry processed 755 requests for industrial customs exemptions. The ministry spokesperson, Jaraah Al Jaraah, stated that these requests included 3,652 items for raw materials and 12,304 items for machinery, equipment, and spare parts. This customs exemption service is part of a package of incentives and benefits offered by the industrial and mining system to facilitate the journey of industrial investors in all stages of their projects, from conception to empowerment, production, and export.
Al Jaraah emphasized that the industrial customs exemption service aligns with the strategic goals of the national industry by empowering and developing the Saudi industrial sector. He highlighted the ministry’s significant role in stimulating and accelerating the growth of the national industrial base. He also explained that industrial facilities receive customs exemption services quickly through simplified procedures using the ministry’s digital platform called “Sanaii.”
Through the customs exemption service, the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources aims to support and encourage local factories, develop national production sectors, reduce production costs, and create new industrial opportunities. This service allows industrial facilities with industrial licenses to receive customs duty exemptions on imports of machinery, equipment, spare parts, raw materials, semi-processed materials, and necessary packaging materials directly related to production.
