Industry Conducts 778 Oversight Visits to Mining Sites in January 2025

The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, represented by the Supervision Agency for Mining Operations, revealed that its inspection teams carried out 778 monitoring rounds at various mining sites across the kingdom in January. During these rounds, they issued 833 warnings to mining sites that violated the mining investment regulations as a precautionary measure before imposing penalties.

According to the ministry’s official spokesperson, Jarrah Al-Jarrah, the monitoring rounds conducted in January included 228 in the Eastern region, 131 in Riyadh, 119 in Mecca, 89 in Al-Madinah, 59 in Asir, 45 in Jazan, 40 in Qassim, 33 in Najran, 30 in Al-Baha, and 4 in the Northern Borders region.

Al-Jarrah emphasized the ministry’s determination to continue conducting monitoring rounds, overseeing mining activities, protecting the sector from illegal practices, safeguarding mineral resources for optimal utilization, and protecting communities near mining areas in accordance with mining investment regulations.

The ministry aims to maximize the value extracted from the kingdom’s mineral resources, enhance the attractiveness of the mining sector to become the third pillar of the national industry in line with the goals of Vision 2030. Additionally, the sector is expected to contribute to diversifying the national income sources and developing non-oil revenues. The value of mineral resources in the kingdom is estimated at approximately 9.3 trillion riyals, spread across more than 5,300 sites.
