Human Rights Commission and International Organization for Migration sign agreement for third phase of project to enhance mechanisms combating human trafficking in the Kingdom

The Human Rights Commission and the International Organization for Migration have signed an agreement to implement the third phase of the project to enhance mechanisms to combat human trafficking in Saudi Arabia. The agreement aims to strengthen the existing partnership and build on progress made in previous stages to address emerging challenges in combating human trafficking crimes. It includes a program to support victims, facilitate voluntary return and reintegration, develop tools to prevent potential exploitation in supply chains, build national capacities in combating human trafficking, enhance monitoring mechanisms and data collection, and maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the Joint Fund for Victims.

Her Excellency, the President of the Human Rights Commission and Chair of the Human Trafficking Committee, Dr. Hala bint Muzid Al-Tuwaijri, explained that the agreement enhances national efforts that prioritize the protection and support of victims. These partnerships aim to combat human trafficking crimes with international organizations to unify responses to combat these crimes comprehensively. She highlighted the multiple partnerships between United Nations agencies and the Kingdom in human rights areas, including combating human trafficking crimes, demonstrating the leadership’s commitment to collaborate with various international organizations to benefit from the best international practices in this context.

The director of the International Organization for Migration, Amy Pope, praised the partnership between the organization and the commission, emphasizing that the implementation of the third phase of the project is a testament to mutual trust and close cooperation between the two parties. It reflects the shared commitment to enhancing human rights and combating human trafficking. Through this sustainable collaboration, institutional capacities will be strengthened, policy frameworks developed, and cooperation frameworks in the protection and assistance of victims of human trafficking will be enhanced.
