Foreign Minister and Moroccan counterpart co-chair 14th session of Joint Committee meeting in Mecca

In a confirmation of the close historical ties between Saudi Arabia and Morocco and to enhance cooperation in areas of common interest, the 14th session of the Saudi-Moroccan Joint Committee was held in Mecca on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. The committee meeting was chaired by His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Mr. Nasser Bourita. Senior officials from ministries, agencies, government institutions, and the private sector of both brotherly countries also participated in the meeting. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the outstanding level of relations between the two countries, commending the efforts of the entities involved in the committee’s work to achieve the aspirations of the leadership of both countries, enhance mutual cooperation in various fields to promote their distinguished relationship, develop it, and push it forward to broader horizons. During the meeting, a Common Customs Cooperation Agreement was signed to mutually recognize the Authorized Economic Operator Program, along with a memorandum of understanding in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development. At the end of the meeting, His Highness the Minister and his Moroccan counterpart signed the minutes of the 14th session of the Saudi-Moroccan Joint Committee meeting. The meeting was attended by Dr. Saud Al-Sati, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Political Affairs; Ambassador Dr. Sami Al-Saleh, the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Kingdom of Morocco; Abdullah Al-Sadhan, Deputy Governor of the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority for Operations Affairs; Dr. Tariq Al-Hamoud, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development Undersecretary for International Affairs; Dr. Khaled Mohammad Asfahani, the CEO of the Public Authority for the Conservation of Coral Reefs and Turtles in the Red Sea; and Eng. Fahd Al-Harathi, the Director General of the Secretariats and Committees Department.
