Abusing Sick Leave Permissions Deemed a Criminal Act Worthy of Legal Consequences

The Ministry of Health has warned against dealing with accounts promoting the issuance of sick leave certificates through social media platforms illegally. They emphasized that this practice is a crime that warrants legal penalties. The penalties include imprisonment for up to one year and a fine of up to 100,000 riyals for anyone issuing false or misleading medical reports.
The Ministry stressed that the proper way to obtain sick leave certificates is through the “Sehaty” platform, which ensures the reliability of medical reports and enhances communication between the employee, their workplace, and healthcare facilities. This guarantees the highest standards of transparency and quality in healthcare services.
They urged individuals to be cautious of fake accounts promoting illegal services and emphasized the importance of relying on the “Sehaty” platform to ensure the accuracy of reports and the safety of procedures. The Ministry mentioned that they regularly review sick leave certificates and compare them with the beneficiary’s medical record through a digital platform that allows for data collection and comparison to increase the efficiency of sick leave certificates and ensure appropriate use.
Furthermore, the Ministry emphasized to healthcare practitioners the importance of granting sick leave certificates only to those eligible based on the beneficiary’s health condition, while adhering to professional ethics and medical responsibility.
