Industrial Production Reaches Record High with 1.3% Increase in January 2025

The General Authority for Statistics released today the results of the Industrial Production Index for the month of January 2025. According to the bulletin, the index for industrial production quantities increased by 1.3% compared to the same month in the previous year, January 2024. This increase was supported by the rise in manufacturing activity, water supply and sanitation, waste management, and processing activities.

The bulletin results also indicated a 0.4% decrease in the sub-index for mining and quarrying activities on an annual basis. On the other hand, the sub-index for manufacturing activity saw a 4% increase. The sub-index for electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply recorded a 1.7% decrease, while the sub-index for water supply, sanitation, waste management, and processing activities showed a significant rise of 12.8%.

In terms of key economic activities, the results showed a 0.4% increase in the index for oil activities in January 2025, while the non-oil activities index increased by 3.6% compared to the same month in the previous year.

It is worth mentioning that the General Authority for Statistics issues the Industrial Production Index on a monthly basis. This index is an economic indicator that reflects relative changes in the volume of industrial production quantities based on data from the industrial production survey. The survey is conducted on a sample of industrial establishments operating in targeted industrial activities, including mining and quarrying, manufacturing activity, electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply, water supply, sanitation, waste management, and processing activities.
