“Masm” clears 1,058 landmines in Yemen in just one week

In the first week of March 2025, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works (MASAM) project has successfully cleared 1,058 mines in various regions of Yemen. Among these mines were 24 anti-tank mines and 1,034 unexploded ordnance.

The MASAM team cleared 687 unexploded ordnance in Aden Governorate, 3 in Qa’atabah Directorate in Al-Dhale’a Governorate, 1 unexploded ordnance in Al-Wadi Directorate in Ma’rib Governorate, 23 anti-tank mines and 280 unexploded ordnance in Ma’rib Directorate, and 1 unexploded ordnance in Asilan Directorate in Shabwah Governorate.

Additionally, the MASAM team cleared 35 unexploded ordnance in Al-Ma’a Directorate in Taiz Governorate, 1 anti-tank mine and 3 unexploded ordnance in Dhubab Directorate, and 24 unexploded ordnance in Al-Mazraq Directorate.

As a result, the total number of mines cleared since the inception of the MASAM project has reached 484,401. These mines were planted indiscriminately across Yemeni lands, endangering the lives of innocent civilians, including children, women, and the elderly, while instilling fear in the hearts of the residents.
