Kingdom Establishes Direct Shipping Route to East Asian Ports with Introduction of ‘Clanga’ Service at Jubail Commercial Port

The General Authority of Ports “Ports” has announced the addition of a new shipping service “Clanga” by the company “MSC” to the Jeddah Commercial Port. This move is in line with the national strategic targets for transportation and logistics, aiming to establish Saudi Arabia as a global logistics hub and a key connector of the three continents. The new shipping service will connect the Jeddah Commercial Port with the King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, Singapore Port, Shanghai Port in China, and Colombo Port in Sri Lanka, with a capacity of up to 6000 standard containers.
This development highlights the vital role of the Jeddah Commercial Port in enhancing the maritime transportation sector and logistics services, as well as supporting economic activities in the Eastern region, given its proximity to production centers, advanced facilities capable of accommodating different types and sizes of ships, and improving maritime connectivity between the Kingdom and global ports. The Jeddah Commercial Port is a key supporter of national exports to global markets, especially industrial products and petrochemical factory products in the industrial city of Jubail, enhancing the Kingdom’s competitiveness in the global market.
