Significant Increase in Number of Pilgrims by 31% in the Last Quarter of 2024

The General Authority for Statistics released their latest statistics on Umrah pilgrims for the fourth quarter of 2024, revealing a 31% increase compared to the same period in 2023. The data showed that approximately 53% of the pilgrims were male, while around 47% were female. Saudi pilgrims accounted for 4.5% of the total number of pilgrims, with the highest number coming from the region of Mecca.

The report also indicated a 26.2% increase in foreign pilgrims compared to the same quarter last year, with 64.7% of them arriving on Umrah visas. December had the highest number of foreign pilgrims at 38.2%, while November had the highest number of domestic pilgrims performing Umrah once, accounting for 34% of the total number of domestic pilgrims.

It is important to note that Umrah statistics are now released quarterly starting from 2024. The data is based on records from the Guests of the Merciful program and approved statistical models.
