Tourism Ministry cracks down on non-compliant hotels, enforces closure and fines up to one million riyals

The Ministry of Tourism has reiterated its commitment to enforcing regulatory penalties on violators of tourism laws and regulations, including fines of up to one million riyals or closure for facilities operating without a license from the Ministry.
A comprehensive survey was recently conducted on all closed tourism facilities to ensure that the closure penalty is still in effect, with periodic follow-ups coordinated with the region’s authorities, security forces, and relevant government agencies to verify compliance with closure orders.
The Ministry emphasized the necessity for tourism hospitality facilities to comply with tourism laws and regulations, obtaining the required permits from the Ministry. It stated that the approved regulations and standards require corrective actions for non-compliant facilities to adhere to regulations before reopening and operating. These regulations include provisions and requirements aimed at improving services, enhancing quality, ensuring visitor and tourist safety, ultimately contributing to the development of the tourism sector in the Kingdom, making it more attractive to investors and tourists.
In this regard, the Ministry confirmed its dedication to implementing penalties under the tourism law for violators, while also providing support for compliant private sector partners.
The Ministry also highlighted the availability of information on tourism laws, regulations, requirements, and standards on its official website, where individuals can utilize direct online services for licensing through the electronic licensing portal. Additionally, support can be obtained by contacting the unified tourism center at “930.”
