Commerce Ministry clarifies protocol for registering business names following implementation of new trademark system

Following the implementation of the new Commercial Names System and its executive regulations on Thursday, April 3, 2025, the Ministry of Commerce clarified the process of writing a trade name in accordance with the new system when submitting an electronic application through the Saudi Business Center platform. The registration of the trade name is now sufficient without specifying the type of entity “sole proprietorship – company” and without specifying the type of commercial activity. This is done to facilitate procedures for starting commercial operations.

The new Commercial Names System and its executive regulations enhance confidence in the business environment by regulating the procedures for reserving and registering trade names in the commercial register. This also aims to increase their value, ensure their protection, and protect the related rights.
