706 landmines removed in Yemen by “Masam” in one week

During the fourth week of February 2025, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s project, MASAM, successfully cleared 706 landmines in various regions across Yemen. These included 13 anti-personnel mines, 24 anti-tank mines, 668 unexploded ordnance, and one explosive device.

In Aden, the MASAM team cleared 186 unexploded ordnance. In Qa’taba district, Al-Dhale, they removed two anti-personnel mines. In Hays district, Al-Hodeidah, 6 unexploded ordnance were cleared. In Taiz governorate, two unexploded ordnance were removed in Ta’iz directorate, along with one anti-personnel mine and 5 anti-tank mines in Al-Misraba directorate.

Moving to Marib governorate, the team cleared one anti-personnel mine in Ragwan directorate, along with 17 anti-tank mines and 410 unexploded ordnance in Marib directorate. In Aseelah directorate, Shabwah governorate, 9 unexploded ordnance were removed. In Taiz governorate, the team cleared two unexploded ordnance in Al-Makha directorate, as well as 8 anti-personnel mines, two anti-tank mines, and 11 exploded ordnance in Zabid directorate. Additionally, one anti-personnel mine, 42 unexploded ordnance, and one explosive device were cleared in Al-Mazrak directorate.

This brings the total number of cleared landmines in February to 2817. Since the beginning of the MASAM project, a total of 483,343 landmines have been cleared in Yemen. These landmines were planted indiscriminately across Yemen’s territories, posing a constant threat to innocent civilians, including children, women, and the elderly, instilling fear in the hearts of the population.
