Kingdom Thrives in Building Comprehensive and Sustainable Water Security Model Despite Harsh Desert Environment
Despite its dry desert nature, the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture confirmed that the Kingdom has succeeded in building a comprehensive and sustainable model for water security. This success is attributed to the unlimited support of the wise leadership, massive investments in water desalination, and the development of giant water networks that provide reliable supplies covering the needs of the community and various sectors.
During a dialogue session in Indonesia titled “From Bali to Riyadh and Beyond”, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Shaibani, the Ministry’s Water Undersecretary, highlighted the Kingdom’s advanced water system. He described it as some underground rivers that are the result of the visionary leadership, aspirations, and efforts to enhance the sector’s capabilities. The Kingdom has placed water security at the forefront of its priorities within ambitious development plans, reflecting its commitment to providing sustainable, high-quality water resources to improve the quality of life and strengthen economic development in line with the goals of Vision 2030.
Al-Shaibani pointed out that the world is facing complex water challenges that require international efforts. Water has become a key factor in achieving stability and development, necessitating countries and organizations to work together to develop innovative and sustainable solutions. The Kingdom believes that exchanging international experiences and adopting best global practices through platforms such as the Water Forum is a crucial step towards finding effective solutions to the water scarcity dilemma and ensuring its sustainable management.
In conclusion, Dr. Al-Shaibani expressed the Kingdom’s appreciation for Indonesia’s role in hosting the tenth edition of the forum, praising the high organization and important outcomes that influenced discussions on global water issues. He confirmed that the Kingdom will continue to build on previous successes, benefiting from accumulated experiences to enhance international cooperation in the water sector.
