Minister of Islamic Affairs Meets with Scientific Councils in Marrakech
On Saturday, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Latif bin Abdul Aziz Al Sheikh, the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance of Saudi Arabia, engaged in a meaningful meeting with the leaders and members of the scientific councils situated in Marrakech. This significant gathering was held at the Mohammed VI Administrative and Cultural Complex for Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, and was graced by the presence of Ahmed Toufiq, the Moroccan Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, as well as Fride Chouraq, the Governor of Marrakech.
During the meeting, Dr. Al Sheikh emphasized that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under its wise leadership, bears a profound message dedicated to the service of Islam and Muslims worldwide. He highlighted the Kingdom’s role in presenting a moderate Islamic model founded on the teachings of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This message is crucial, especially in a world often fraught with misunderstandings of Islamic principles.
Dr. Al Sheikh further elaborated on the extensive care and attention that Saudi Arabia invests in the Two Holy Mosques and the sacred sites. He noted that the support for the guests of Allah—those who come for pilgrimage—begins the moment they set foot in the Kingdom. This includes a comprehensive range of services that address various needs such as health care, security, and guidance, all of which facilitate a smooth and tranquil experience for pilgrims performing their religious duties.
The minister reiterated the critical role that scholars play in solidifying principles of mercy and justice within the community. He called for a concerted effort to enhance unity among Muslims, urging the attendees to adhere closely to the correct practices of the Prophet Muhammad and to present these teachings as exemplary models for both الدعوة (Da’wah, or invitation to Islam) and personal conduct.
In a time where the role of Islamic scholars could not be more crucial, Dr. Al Sheikh’s remarks serve as a reminder of their responsibility to foster a culture of understanding and acceptance. He encouraged all members of the scientific councils to instill the values of collaboration, ensuring that the community remains united on the fundamental tenets of the faith.
The meeting in Marrakech symbolizes a shared vision between Saudi Arabia and Morocco in promoting Islamic values that resonate with a spirit of moderation and understanding. As both nations work together towards these goals, it becomes clear that the cooperation extends beyond mere diplomatic ties; it speaks to a deeper commitment to fostering a global environment where Islamic teachings are understood and practiced respectfully.
Dr. Al Sheikh concluded the meeting by reaffirming the significance of maintaining open dialogues across Islamic institutions, underscoring that such collaborations are essential to overcoming challenges that may arise due to cultural and ideological differences. He stressed the necessity of collective efforts to ensure that the message of Islam is conveyed correctly, fostering an atmosphere of peace and cooperation.
This meeting, showcasing the collaboration between Saudi Arabia and Morocco, illustrates the collective efforts being made to navigate the complexities of contemporary religious discourse. As these nations continue to bolster their partnership, they set a commendable example for the global Muslim community, advancing the teachings of Islam through knowledge, compassion, and unity.
Through this engagement, both countries illustrate their commitment to maintaining a steady course towards fostering a more profound understanding of Islam, ensuring that its teachings are presented in a manner that is harmonious and aligned with the needs of the modern world.
