WHO Declares Global Health Emergency for 2025 at Fourth International Humanitarian Forum in Riyadh

The World Health Organization officially launched the health emergency appeal for the year 2025 during the Fourth Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum today. The session featured key figures such as Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, the General Supervisor of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tom Fletcher, the UN Deputy Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Ambassador Patricia Danzi, the Director-General of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Melanie Johnson, the Deputy Director of Health and Medical Coordinator for Humanitarian Crisis Response in Gaza, and Dr. Alaa Altayeb Mahiaddin, the Director-General of International Health and the Federal Ministry of Health in Sudan.
The session emphasized the importance of health in humanitarian response, highlighted the essential funding needs for the emergency appeal, and called for increased involvement of governments and stakeholders to mobilize support and funding.
