Crown Prince Leads Cabinet Meeting – Asserts Authority

Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, chaired a cabinet meeting in Riyadh. At the beginning of the session, he expressed gratitude for the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan and emphasized the kingdom’s commitment to providing comfort to pilgrims visiting the sacred sites. The cabinet was briefed on messages from the presidents of Azerbaijan and the Comoros received by King Salman. Additionally, the meeting discussed the outcomes of talks with the President of Lebanon during his official visit to the Kingdom, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and ongoing efforts in the region.

The cabinet highlighted the importance of fully implementing the Taif Agreement in Lebanon and supporting its sovereignty, including the role of the Lebanese army. The council also reaffirmed its support for the Arab League’s summit on Palestine, condemning Israeli actions in Gaza and calling for international accountability to ensure sustained humanitarian aid.

On a national level, the cabinet reaffirmed the state’s support for social services and housing initiatives for deserving families, commending the collaboration between government, private, and non-profit sectors. The progress of major development projects aimed at enhancing the country’s comprehensive growth was reviewed, including the inauguration of the Riyadh Sports Boulevard project.

The cabinet approved various agreements and memoranda of understanding in areas such as civil defense cooperation with the Maldives, political consultations with Ireland, industrial collaboration with other countries, investment protection with Egypt, and educational cooperation with the Gulf Cooperation Council’s Educational Research Center. Additionally, agreements related to combating terrorism, aviation services, tourism promotion, competition enhancement, and legal cooperation were also endorsed.

Furthermore, the cabinet discussed general topics such as annual reports from the King Fahd National Library and Qassim University, taking necessary actions regarding these matters. The meeting concluded with decisions on institutional reforms, including establishing the Saudi Building Code Academy and the Saudi Investment Marketing Authority.

In summary, the cabinet meeting focused on enhancing international relationships, supporting regional stability, promoting social welfare programs, and advancing major developmental projects to boost the kingdom’s progress. The decisions made during the session aimed at strengthening cooperation with various countries and organizations across different sectors for mutual benefit and growth.
