Saudi Arabia Holds Bilateral Meeting with Bahamas to Enhance Cooperation in International Maritime Organization

A delegation from Saudi Arabia to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), led by Permanent Representative Engineer Kamal Al-Jenaidi, met with a delegation from the Bahamas headed by His Excellency Minister of Energy and Transport Jophet Culbi Davis, and the Permanent Representative to the IMO Ambassador Paul Roll, at the IMO headquarters in London during the forty-ninth session of the Facilitation Committee.

The meeting discussed opportunities for bilateral cooperation to facilitate positive change in the maritime sector, covering a variety of topics including seafarer training, digital transformation, and facilitating global trade. Both parties emphasized their commitment to finding innovative and sustainable solutions to build a more resilient maritime sector, agreeing to develop the next generation of seafarers.

Saudi Arabia aims to solidify its position as a global logistics hub as part of its Vision 2030 goals, with efforts focused on streamlining customs clearance procedures and increasing trade efficiency crucial to this ambition.

The delegations agreed to explore future cooperation prospects in key digital infrastructure and data management operations, as well as implementing an effective Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) system within the Bahamas archipelago to enhance awareness of the maritime sector.
