Yemen’s ‘Masam’ clears 607 landmines in a week, saving lives

During the fourth week of March 2025, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s project, known as “Masam,” successfully cleared 607 mines in various regions of Yemen. Among these were 21 anti-personnel mines, 20 anti-tank mines, 561 unexploded ordnances, and 5 explosive devices.

In Aden governorate, the “Masam” team removed 561 unexploded ordnances, 3 anti-tank mines, and 8 anti-personnel mines. In Marib governorate, the team cleared 13 anti-personnel mines in Harib district, 17 anti-tank mines and 4 explosive devices in Marib district, and one explosive device in Al-Mazraa district in Taiz governorate.

The total number of mines cleared in March rose to 2,765, bringing the overall number of mines removed since the start of the “Masam” project to 486,108. These mines were haphazardly planted in Yemeni lands, posing a threat to innocent lives, especially children, women, and the elderly, instilling fear in the hearts of the residents.
