High-level voluntary side session convenes.

During the fourth International Humanitarian Forum in Riyadh today, a high-level side session titled “The Effective Role of International Humanitarian Volunteering: Lessons, Challenges, and Future Perspectives” was held. The session was attended by His Excellency the Advisor at the Royal Court and General Supervisor of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, His Excellency the Minister of Public Health and Population of Yemen, Dr. Qasim Mohammed Bahibah, the President of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, Hazem Bakla, and the President and CEO of the International Medical Corps, Ms. Nancy Aossey, and Senior Humanitarian Advisor for Crises and Emergencies, Marianne Horn.
The session focused on reviewing successful experiences from around the world to consider strategies and lessons learned to enhance humanitarian volunteering. It emphasized the role of technology in enhancing volunteering opportunities and discussed strategies to enhance volunteer participation, with a focus on partnerships between the public and private sectors to support volunteering efforts.
Another session was held on addressing displacement in the age of increasing conflicts and humanitarian crises, as well as a workshop on integrating sustainable development goals into humanitarian practices.
