Supreme Court Urges Moon Sighting for the Blessed Month of Ramadan Next Friday Evening

The Supreme Court has called on all Muslims in the Kingdom to look for the crescent moon of the holy month of Ramadan on the evening of Friday, 29/8/1446 AH, corresponding to 28/2/2025 AD, according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar. This announcement was made in a statement by the Supreme Court, which emphasized the importance of sighting the moon for the start of Ramadan.

In anticipation of the upcoming month of Ramadan, the Supreme Court urged Muslims across the Kingdom to report their sightings of the moon to the nearest court or center. Those who are able to physically see the moon or use optical aids are encouraged to participate in committees formed for this purpose in different regions. The Court also highlighted the spiritual rewards and benefits of actively contributing to this communal effort.

The call for moon sighting aligns with the previous decision of the Supreme Court, noting that Friday, 1/8/1446 AH (31/1/2025 AD), marks the beginning of the month of Sha’ban for the year 1446 AH. Therefore, it is essential for Muslims to come together and search for the new moon on the specified date to determine the start of Ramadan.

The Supreme Court emphasized the significance of fulfilling this religious duty and contributing to the welfare of the Muslim community by actively participating in the moon sighting process. By engaging in this practice, individuals can earn spiritual rewards and uphold the values of cooperation, righteousness, and piety.

In conclusion, the Supreme Court expressed hope that Muslims would heed this call, cooperate in moon sighting efforts, and contribute to the overall benefit of the community. May Allah guide and bless everyone, and peace be upon Prophet Muhammad and his companions.
