Violent Thunderstorms Hit Several Regions of the Kingdom

Today, the National Center for Meteorology in its weather report forecasts the possibility of thunderstorms with moderate to heavy rain causing flash floods in parts of Al Baha, Makkah, Al Madinah, Hail, Al Qassim, Riyadh, Eastern Province, Northern Borders, and Al Jouf. These storms will be accompanied by hail showers and strong winds stirring up dust and sand. Meanwhile, lighter to moderate rain is expected in parts of Jazan, Asir, and some areas of Tabuk. The report also suggests the chance of snowfall in some elevated areas such as Jabal Al Lawz, Al Aqan, and Adh Dhahr. Additionally, fog is likely to form in certain regions.
The report highlights that surface winds over the Red Sea will be northwesterly to northerly at a speed of 15-35 km/h in the northern and central parts, reaching over 50 km/h with the formation of rainy thunderclouds. On the southern side, winds will be southwestern to southeastern at a speed of 20-42 km/h, increasing wave heights from half a meter to one and a half meters in the northern and central regions, reaching over two and a half meters with rainy thunderclouds. In the southern part, waves will range from one to two meters. Sea conditions are expected to be light to moderate with waves becoming turbulent during rainy thunderstorms. Over the Arabian Gulf, surface winds will be easterly to northeasterly at a speed of 20-40 km/h, increasing to over 50 km/h during rainy thunderstorms. Wave heights ranging from one to two meters will rise above two and a half meters with rainy thunderclouds. Sea conditions are anticipated to be light to moderate with turbulent waves during rainy thunderstorms.
