Guinea Celebrates Winners of 43rd National Quran Competition with Support from Saudi Arabia

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance organized the closing ceremony to honor the winners of the national competition for reciting, memorizing, interpreting, and beautifying the Quran in its forty-third edition in Conakry, Guinea. The event took place at the People’s Palace in the Guinean capital with the presence of various dignitaries including the Saudi Arabian Ambassador, the Guinean Prime Minister, members of parliament, ministers’ representatives, and ambassadors from Arab and Islamic countries.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Quranic verses were recited followed by a speech from the Guinean Prime Minister commending Saudi Arabia’s support for the competition and its efforts in serving Islam and Muslims. The Saudi Ambassador emphasized the royal leadership’s commitment to spreading Quranic values and teaching the Quran to Muslims worldwide. He highlighted the significance of the competition as a great opportunity to educate people about the Quran and contribute to its dissemination in society. The winners were congratulated for their achievements, with special mention of the efforts of the Guinean General Secretariat for Religious Affairs in organizing the event, and the Ministry of Islamic Affairs in Saudi Arabia for its unwavering support.

In response, the Guinean Minister of Religious Affairs expressed gratitude on behalf of the government and the people for Saudi Arabia’s generous support for the national Quran recitation competition in Guinea. He praised the fruitful collaboration between the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs and the Guinean General Secretariat for Religious Affairs in organizing the forty-third edition of the competition, considering it a source of motivation for the Islamic community in Guinea to excel in Quranic memorization.

The national Quranic memorization competition commenced on February 28th this year, with over four thousand participants of all ages competing in the initial stages across the states. Eventually, 254 contestants qualified for the final rounds in the eight branches of the competition.

In conclusion, the winners of the competition were honored, marking a successful and significant event in promoting Quranic education and recitation in Guinea. The ceremony was a testament to the collaboration between Saudi Arabia and Guinea in supporting religious and educational initiatives.
