Rehabilitation Project to Connect Taiz with Multiple Provinces Launches

The rehabilitation project of the road connecting Taiz province with several other provinces is a vital lifeline for 5 million Yemenis. The project is being carried out by the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction in Yemen, in coordination with the World Bank, to enhance the road’s efficiency and ensure safety measures are in place to prevent accidents and alleviate the daily struggles of travelers.
This project will contribute to the safe movement of vehicles, facilitate the transportation of individuals and goods such as food and medicine, reduce costs by shortening travel time, provide immediate job opportunities, and serve various economic, service, educational, and other sectors.
The rehabilitation project for the Hayjah Al-Abd road aims to alleviate the daily struggles faced by road users due to road collapses, poor drainage systems for rainwater, and the deterioration of asphalt layers in large parts of the road. The road spans approximately 9 kilometers, with a difference in elevation of 1000 meters from the highest point to its end, lacking safety elements such as concrete barriers to protect vehicles, rock collapses, the need to rehabilitate water drainage channels, and the construction of new channels to prevent water from seeping into the road’s pavement layers.
It is worth noting that the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction in Yemen has implemented 264 projects and initiatives in eight key sectors, including education, health, water, energy, transportation, agriculture, fisheries wealth, development and support of Yemeni government capacities, and development programs, in various Yemeni provinces.
