King’s Ramadan Iftar Program Draws Impressive Attendance of 33,000 Fasting People in 3 Indonesian Cities

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance has intensified its efforts to implement the King Salman’s program for iftar in Indonesia. The recent days witnessed a large turnout for the iftar meals provided by the ministry in three major cities across different Indonesian provinces, benefiting a total of 33,000 fasting individuals.

In a scene reflecting the unity of Islam and the spirit of giving, a record-breaking event took place in the city of Solo, Central Java, Indonesia last Friday, the 14th of Ramadan 1446. This event marked the largest Ramadan iftar gathering in an Asian country, with over 20,000 attendees. The iftar spread over a 2800-meter table at the “Manahan” sports arena in the city center, earning recognition from the “MURI” record book for the second consecutive year for its size and length.

The second city targeted by the program was Makassar in South Sulawesi province, Indonesia. The ministry organized a grand iftar event at the Ninety-Nine Dome Mosque, one of the prominent Islamic landmarks globally. The event was attended by the governor of South Sulawesi, Andi Sudirman Sulaiman, government officials, and the religious attaché at the Saudi Embassy in Jakarta, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Hazmi, together with around ten thousand fasting individuals. More than 10,000 meals were distributed with the help of 300 organizers.

The third city visited was Kendari in Southeast Sulawesi, where 3000 fasting individuals benefited from the iftar meal. This initiative helped strengthen social cohesion and communication among members of the Muslim community. Such iftar gatherings provide an opportunity to enhance solidarity and connections among Muslims, showcasing the efforts of the Kingdom, represented by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, in strengthening ties among Muslims in Indonesia, regionally and globally, reflecting its leadership in the Islamic world.
