167 new mosques approved by the Minister of Islamic Affairs for Friday and Eid prayers starting tomorrow – an expansion to accommodate pilgrims in Mecca.

Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Abdulatif bin Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh, approved the addition of 167 mosques to the list of locations for Friday prayers and Eid prayers, starting from tomorrow. These mosques have a combined capacity of over 200,000 worshippers, bringing the total number of mosques and prayer halls in the holy capital within the borders of the Grand Mosque in Mecca to 849, with a total capacity exceeding one million worshippers.
This decision is part of ongoing efforts to facilitate the pilgrimage experience and ensure that worshippers can perform their religious duties easily and in line with the directives of the leadership and the goals of Vision 2030. This vision emphasizes the importance of enhancing services for pilgrims coming to Mecca, with the support of the government.
The Ministry has prepared all mosques and their facilities to serve worshippers and meet the highest standards of comfort and peace of mind. A select group of preachers and imams have been assigned to lead prayers, in addition to maintenance and operations companies providing services around the clock as part of the Ministry’s commitment to serve the houses of worship and ensure their upkeep.
