US expresses gratitude for Crown Prince’s wise leadership and hosting of bilateral talks with Russian and Ukrainian delegations in the Kingdom.
The United States has expressed gratitude to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for hosting bilateral talks with Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Riyadh from March 23-25, 2025. These talks, characterized by cooperation and mutual respect, resulted in agreements aimed at enhancing regional and international stability and security. The White House, in a statement, highlighted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s role as a key mediator in promoting peace and stability in the region.
During the discussions, the US and Russia agreed to ensure safe navigation in the Black Sea, committing to avoiding the use of force or military strikes and preventing commercial ships from being used for military purposes. Moreover, the US pledged to work with Russia to facilitate its access to the global market for agricultural exports and fertilizers by reducing maritime insurance costs and enhancing port access and payment systems for export transactions. Measures will also be implemented to fulfill the agreements made between Presidents Trump and Putin regarding the prohibition of targeting energy facilities in both Russia and Ukraine.
Both parties welcomed the constructive efforts of third-party countries to support the implementation of energy and maritime navigation agreements. They reiterated their joint commitment to continue working towards achieving permanent and sustainable peace in the region. Additionally, the US and Ukraine agreed to ensure safe navigation in the Black Sea, while refraining from using commercial ships for military purposes. The US reaffirmed its commitment to assist in reaching an agreement on prisoner exchanges, releasing civilian detainees, and repatriating Ukrainian children who were forcefully taken to Russia.
Efforts will be made to activate the agreement between Presidents Trump and Zelensky regarding the ban on targeting energy facilities in Russia and Ukraine. The US and Ukraine welcomed the facilitation efforts of third-party countries in implementing energy and maritime agreements, and they expressed their determination to continue working towards achieving sustainable peace in the region.
The statement also emphasized the US’s commitment to continue facilitating negotiations and working towards a peaceful resolution to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, based on the agreements reached in Riyadh and within ongoing efforts to achieve lasting stability and security.
