Saudi Development Fund participates in launching water supply project for districts of Sami and Muanga in Tanzania

The Saudi Fund for Development, represented by its Director General for Operations in Africa, Mohammad bin Adhhan Al-Shammari, participated in the opening of a drinking water supply project in the Sami and Moanga provinces in the United Republic of Tanzania. The fund contributed to the financing of the project with a concessional development loan worth $25 million. The event was attended by Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of Tanzania, His Excellency Minister of Water in Tanzania, Jumaa Hamidou Oyiso, and the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Tanzania, Yahya bin Ahmed Akish.
The project aims to establish an integrated network for drinking water supply with main pipelines exceeding 160 kilometers in length. It will also create a reservoir with a capacity of 7500 cubic meters to deliver water to homes in 16 beneficiary villages. The project will provide three water tanks in the city of Sami, implement household connections to meet the water needs of the population in various villages in Tanzania, and contribute to providing and improving drinking water in urban and rural communities in Tanzania. This initiative seeks to enhance health standards, reduce waterborne diseases, and achieve sustainable water security.
It is worth noting that since 1987, the Saudi Fund for Development has financed eight development projects and programs in Tanzania through concessional loans exceeding $92 million in sectors such as transportation, water, agriculture, and social infrastructure. These efforts aim to contribute to social growth and economic prosperity in Tanzania.
