Saudi Arabia introduces new maritime shipping service to Syria

The General Authority of Ports “Ports” has announced the addition of a new shipping service “EXS6” to the Islamic Port of Jeddah, which is one of the direct maritime shipping services between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Syrian Arab Republic. This announcement is part of Ports’ efforts to enhance the Kingdom’s position in the global maritime navigation index, improve operational efficiency at ports, and increase the effectiveness of connecting the Kingdom to global markets. This is in line with the goals of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services, aiming to solidify the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics center and a hub connecting three continents.

The new shipping service works to connect the Islamic Port of Jeddah to the Port of Iskenderun in Turkey and the Port of Latakia in Syria, with a capacity of 858 standard containers. This contributes to boosting trade, supporting exports and imports, and enhancing the competitive edge of the Islamic Port of Jeddah regionally and internationally.

It is worth mentioning that the partnerships established by Ports with major global shipping lines contribute to enhancing the development of the Kingdom’s ports, supporting their competitiveness, developing their infrastructure, expanding maritime transport routes, and improving operational and logistical service procedures.
