They stressed the full implementation of the Taif Agreement, adherence to relevant international resolutions, asserting Lebanon’s sovereignty over its entire territory, limiting weapons to the Lebanese state, affirming the national role of the Lebanese army, supporting it, and the necessity of the Israeli army’s withdrawal from all Lebanese territories. This was outlined in a joint statement following Lebanese President Michel Aoun’s visit to Saudi Arabia.

Invited by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Aoun visited Saudi Arabia in an effort to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries. During their meeting, they discussed the close ties between Saudi Arabia and Lebanon and explored ways to further develop them across various fields. They also exchanged views on current regional and international situations, emphasizing the importance of Arab cooperation and coordinated stances on critical issues.

Both parties agreed to study the obstacles to resuming exports from Lebanon to Saudi Arabia and the necessary steps to allow Saudi citizens to travel to Lebanon. They also highlighted the importance of implementing Aoun’s presidential address outlining his vision for Lebanon’s stability, as well as the significance of adhering to the Taif Agreement, international resolutions, Lebanon’s sovereignty, weapons control by the Lebanese state, and supporting the national role of the Lebanese army while demanding the Israeli army’s withdrawal from Lebanese territories.

Additionally, they underscored the urgency of revitalizing the Lebanese economy, overcoming current crises, and commencing required reforms internationally in line with principles of transparency and legal enforcement. Aoun expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality extended by Saudi King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his visit.

In return, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman extended his best wishes for Aoun’s health and prosperity, along with progress and prosperity for the Lebanese people. Aoun invited Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to visit Lebanon, which was warmly welcomed by the Crown Prince.
