Saudi Arabia Submits Official Registration File for “Expo 2030” to International Exhibitions Bureau

Saudi Arabia has submitted the official registration file to host the International Expo 2030 in Riyadh to the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE). This step confirms the Kingdom’s commitment and readiness to organize this global event.

The Saudi Ambassador to France, Fahd bin Maayouf Al-Rwaili, handed over the file to the Secretary-General of the BIE, Dimitri Kerkentzes, as a testament to the Kingdom’s dedication and close coordination with the international organization.

Submitting the official file is a crucial and in-depth stage in Saudi Arabia’s preparations to host Expo 2030. It signifies the essential starting point for implementing practical plans and commencing actual preparations for the global event. It also reflects the Kingdom’s seriousness in fulfilling its international commitments, as well as its high organizational capacity and vast potential to host large-scale global events.

This action follows Saudi Arabia’s victory in securing the hosting rights for Expo 2030 during the 173rd General Assembly of the BIE in November 2023. The submitted file includes a comprehensive plan covering all organizational, procedural, and operational aspects, such as the operational timeline, legislative, regulatory, and financial procedures, in addition to the main site plan for the expo, international participation conditions, and legacy investment plans.

The registration file will undergo review by the BIE and member states, paving the way for its official approval by the General Assembly. This will then allow Saudi Arabia to begin practical preparations and send official invitations for international participation through diplomatic channels.

On the other hand, the Secretary-General of the BIE, Dimitri Kerkentzes, praised the quality of the submitted file, noting that it provides a comprehensive and clear vision for organizing Expo 2030 in Riyadh. He acknowledged the Kingdom’s eagerness and significant efforts in preparing for and cooperating with the BIE to ensure the success of this global event.
