Saudi Arabia to lead the 69th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women

The sixty-ninth session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) kicks off today and will continue until March 21st. This session is being led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasel, the Permanent Representative to the United Nations, along with a high-level delegation headed by the Family Affairs Council represented by Secretary-General Dr. Maimuna Al-Khalil.

Saudi Arabia’s presidency of this session reaffirms its leading role in supporting and empowering women on both regional and international levels. It reflects a continuous journey of efforts and achievements to enhance the status of women and their active participation in various fields, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

During its presidency, Saudi Arabia emphasizes the importance of enhancing international cooperation to support women’s empowerment policies and finding practical solutions to the challenges they face. The Kingdom also highlights its unique experiences and initiatives that have solidified the role of Saudi women as a key pillar in national development.

Dr. Maimuna Al-Khalil pointed out that Saudi Arabia’s selection to lead the sixty-ninth session of the Commission on the Status of Women reflects the significant achievements made in empowering Saudi women. She emphasized that women in the Kingdom receive support from the wise leadership, enabling them to achieve successive successes in all sectors.
