Over 3 Million Pilgrims and Travelers Pass Through 4 Saudi Airports

Airports Holdings Company has recently announced that more than 3.4 million pilgrims and travelers have passed through four Saudi airports since the beginning of Ramadan until the 18th day, including King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah, Prince Abdulmohsen bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Yanbu, and Taif International Airport. The travelers were distributed between international flights, totaling 2,403,146 passengers, and domestic flights, totaling 1,082,705 passengers. During this period, a total of 20,038 flights were operated, including 12,699 international flights and 7,339 domestic flights.
As part of efforts to enhance the travel experience at Saudi airports, King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah has activated a service of electronic gates with 70 gates that allow travelers to complete their travel procedures independently without human intervention. This initiative is aimed at improving the travel experience in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior represented by the General Directorate of Passports, Airports Holdings Company, and the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (SDAIA).
The activation of electronic gates aims to facilitate and expedite travel procedures using modern technologies and artificial intelligence, enabling passengers to complete their travel procedures independently, quickly, and securely, thus saving time and effort. These gates are distributed between Lounge 1 and the Executive Office facilities, with a capacity of up to 2,500 passengers per gate, allowing the airport to serve up to 175,000 passengers daily.
Saudi airports had prepared themselves to receive pilgrims and travelers during the peak Umrah season for the year 1446 AH. Airports Holdings Company is harnessing its human and technological capabilities around the clock to ensure the provision of the best services and facilities through its subsidiaries, contributing to providing a smooth and convenient travel experience, in line with the targets of Saudi Vision 2030 to enhance the quality of services provided to the guests of the Kingdom.
Airports Holdings Company continues its efforts in coordination with relevant entities to ensure the smooth flow of pilgrims and travelers by intensifying field teams, supporting operational staff, and enhancing passenger services within the lounges, including providing comfort facilities and facilitating travel procedures. It is worth mentioning that Airports Holdings Company oversees the operation of 27 airports in Saudi Arabia through its subsidiaries, including Riyadh airports, Jeddah airports, Dammam airports, and the Second Airports Complex, with the aim of developing the Kingdom’s airports and improving their performance to keep pace with the rapid developments in the Kingdom and support the sustainable development process to achieve further development and accomplishments according to the National Aviation Strategy derived from the National Transport and Logistics Strategy as part of Saudi Vision 2030.
