Cloudy skies and strong winds in some areas of the Kingdom

Today, the National Center for Meteorology forecasted thunderstorms with moderate to heavy rain that may lead to flash floods. Hail showers and strong winds are also expected in parts of Makkah, Al-Baha, Asir, Jazan, Najran, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province in Saudi Arabia. The report mentioned that surface winds over the Red Sea will be northwest to north at a speed of 25-50 km/h in the northern and central parts, becoming northeast to southeast in the evening, changing direction to northwest to north at a speed of 15-45 km/h, reaching over 55 km/h when thunderstorms form in the southern part. Wave heights are expected to be between 1.5 to 2.5 meters in the north and central parts, and between 1 to 2.5 meters, possibly higher, in the south due to the formation of rain-bearing thunderclouds. Sea conditions are likely to be moderate to rough in the north and central parts, and light to moderate, possibly rough, in the southern part.

On the Arabian Gulf, surface winds are expected to be east to southeast, then turning northwest to north in the evening at a speed of 12-45 km/h, increasing to over 55 km/h when thunderstorms form in the north and central areas. Wave heights will vary from 0.5 to 1.5 meters, possibly higher, in the north and central parts due to thunderstorm activity. Sea conditions will be light to moderate, possibly rough, in these areas.

Overall, the weather conditions today are expected to be unsettled with the possibility of thunderstorms, heavy rain, hail, and strong winds in various regions of Saudi Arabia. People are advised to take caution, especially in areas prone to flooding, and to stay updated on weather alerts.
