3 million pilgrims expected to visit the Grand Mosque on the 22nd of Ramadan

Yesterday, the Grand Mosque in Mecca witnessed a large turnout of worshippers and pilgrims who gathered to spend the last ten nights of Ramadan seeking Laylat al-Qadr.

According to the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, the total number of visitors to the ancient house yesterday reached 3,101,140. The number of worshippers during Fajr prayer was 592,103, during Dhuhr prayer was 518,090, during Asr prayer was 547,695, during Maghrib prayer was 710,524, and during Isha and Taraweeh prayers was 732,728.

The Presidency also noted that the total number of beneficiaries of the wheelchairs reached 40,540. The number of pilgrims entering through the main gates included 235,810 pilgrims at Gate 1 (King Abdulaziz), 32,369 pilgrims at Gate 17 (As-Salam), 69,596 pilgrims at Gate 33 (Al-Hadebia), 111,421 pilgrims at Gate 40 (Umrah), and 172,771 pilgrims at Gate 79 (King Fahd), bringing the total number of pilgrims from the main gates to 662,507 pilgrims.

It is worth mentioning that the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque utilizes advanced technology, employing sensor readers to monitor the number of worshippers and pilgrims from the visitors to the ancient house at the main entrances of the Grand Mosque. This approach aims to enhance operational efficiency by tracking the flows and crowds and improving their management effectively in collaboration with relevant authorities.
