Algerian Finance Minister Hosts Head of Islamic Development Bank Group

The Algerian Minister of Finance, Abdul Karim Boualzard, met with the President of the Islamic Development Bank Group for the year 2025, Dr. Mohamed Suleiman Al-Jasser, today at the ministry headquarters in the capital city of Algeria.

During the meeting, they discussed the prospects of cooperation and ways to enhance partnership and strategic collaboration between the two sides. They focused on the new partnership framework that will be announced during the bank’s annual meetings scheduled to be held in the capital city of Algeria from May 19 to 22, 2025. This framework aims to support competitive sectors, economic diversification, strengthen the role of the private sector, as well as enhance partnerships for human capital development and regional cooperation.

The two parties discussed ways to resume cooperation in financing strategic projects that contribute to sustainable development and enhance infrastructure in Algeria. They emphasized the importance of developing the railway infrastructure as a key element in achieving sustainable economic growth, reducing environmental impact, enhancing quality of life, and regional integration. Dr. Al-Jasser highlighted the bank’s commitment to supporting these transformative projects, drawing on the bank’s successful experiences in similar projects in many member countries.

They commended the efforts of the Algerian government to activate partnership and cooperation with the bank group, expressing appreciation for the Algerian government’s hosting of the bank’s annual meetings and supporting its success.
